Synopsis
Shepperton Studios was born as Sound City in 1932. This history provides an insight into the operation of Britain's third major studio, which, when working to capacity, produced international features, TV series and commercials. The author traces the history of Shepperton, looking at: British Lion, who owned the studio from 1946-72, London Films, Sir Alexander Korda, the 1970s city whizz-kids, the National Film Finance Corporation 1970s city whizz-kids, the National Film Finance Corporation and the #3 million loan from the Labour government in 1948.
