Synopsis
Every year, for as long as anyone can remember, the Mountain has moved a little northwards. But now it's moving in the opposite direction. And it's picking up speed. Pema is sent by his grandparents to consult the Sisters of the Snow, the Keepers of the Mountain, but his enquiries are met with stony denial. Singay, a rebellious apprentice Sister knows different and secretly shows Pema cracks in the rock. Then she invites him inside the Mountain where they meet Rose, the Meteor Driver who is literally trying to hold everything together. This unlikely trio embark on an epic adventure which leads them far beyond the safe, closeted world they know. And as they learn the terrible truth about the Walking Mountain their journey becomes a race against time to save the entire planet from disaster.

Newspapers & Magazines
'Full of inventiveness and imagination. It's warm, funny, sad, happy. Do read it' * An Awfully Big Blog Adventure * 'Walking Mountain is one of the best books I've read in a long time ... a hidden treasure' * The Bookwitch * 'Another compelling futuristic story, fantastic and baroque. Lennon's world is laced with captivating detail, from the strange animals, gows and marmoldes, to the extraordinary figure at the heart of the story, The Meteor Driver' -- Vicky Allan * The Herald * 'It is perhaps inevitable that any book that can be described by the phrase "epic quest" evokes comparisons with "The Hobbit", and it's a comparison which is entirely justified in terms of the way the world Joan Lennon has created draws the reader in and keeps you completely enthralled. This is a great book we'd strongly recommend to the young reader or readers in your life' * Undiscovered Scotland *
