What Reviewers Are Saying
Set in 17th century London, young spies Beth, John, and Ralph are charged with keeping the king safe while going about their daily lives. Beth is a famous actress-the perfect cover for her spying activities. John is a clerk for the Navy board and after meeting Beth, he too becomes a spy. Ralph was brought in by the king's spymaster because of his knowledge of the streets, and gives the group their assignments. In Treason, Beth and her colleagues discover a mysterious boat that has brought in explosives to kill the King. In the next book, the dangers of the plague surround the team. Each book, written by Jo Macauley, can stand on its own as a list of characters is provided in each volume, but readers will be more familiar with the characters if they are read in order. The storylines will keep readers interested, and the historical setting and facts will make the stories come to life.
