Gritty, emotional and raw. Based around three female family members, and their personal stories of survival in the changing landscape of a coastal Jamaican town. The character development is insanely good. I can’t remember a book where I cared so much for the protagonist, despite her flaws and poor decisions. The divide between rich and poor is heart-breaking and portrayed very well. I didn’t know anything about this book before I read it and I’m glad, so I’ll keep this brief. Just buy it, devour it and thank me later.
