Synopsis
The MR2 was a landmark Japanese car, up there with the legendary Toyota 2000GT, the Datsun 240Z, and Mazda's RX-7 and MX-5. It was the first mid-engined production model to come from the Land of the Rising Sun, and will always have a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts all over the world. The MR2 started life as the SV-3 concept car, introduced at the 1983 Tokyo Show. By the middle of the following year, the first production models were filtering into Japanese showrooms, but they didn't stay there for long: the MR2 was an instant hit, and demand soon outstripped supply. This definitive history of the MR2 Coupes and Spyders includes nearly 400 photos and illustrations, a wealth of technical detail, and chronicles its development from concept car to production car enjoying worldwide critical acclaim.

It contains a wealth of information illustrated by many colour photographs and concludes with valuable tables about the technical data (including those of the US or Japanese market!) And production figures. Another plus is the useful index at the back. Oldtimer Magazine/ Dreamcar Magazine If I were the owner, or indeed just looking to buy a Toyota MR2 then this 200-page, soft-bound book by Brian Long would provide me with all I needed to know, by way of much well-researched information. RETRO SPEED This book does the MR2 credit. Classic driver (monthly); With full support from Toyota, this book contains all the important information- history, motorsport, special models, technology, purchase advice, etc.- in an appealing form.- Austro Classic. This makes the second edition for Brian Long's book, a valuable resource for anyone considering picking up on of the cars - if only to use as a reference manual. As we've come to expect from a prolific writer like Long, the story itself is both well-researched and written in an easily-digestible style. If all you require from the book are comprehensive specifications for each model, then this are included in the appendix. Whatever you're looking for in relation to MR2s it's probably here. - EVO.
