This is a GREAT book packed with facts, figures, images and opinion. The writing ins simple, economical and unflashy. And it's very digestible prose. Why? Because Estall has thoughtfully served up the material in small portions headed 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so on upward. Consequently, it's both easy and natural to read a small section, look away, have a think, make a cup of coffee, go mow the lawn and come back for the next mouthful. The pictures are mostly pretty good, it not excellent. Many have been take-in from Estall's personal collection but others are factory shots, racing images, period technical diagrams, factory marketing literature and similar. The bottom line? But the Tiger Cub Bible. You'll have little option but to enjoy it. And if you don't actually own a Cub, this might just be the catalyst you need to go and get one. - Sump. As part of the Veloce Publishing Classic Reprint Series, Mike Estall's book, was originally released in 200 and is now in its eight printing. That fact by itself says something about the quality of the work. Estall's book is a mix of historical textbook, technical specification manual and memoir of one of Triumph's models that was both enduing and endearing. The book covers the Tiger Cub in depth from its earliest days... Estall also prides very unique insight into some of the prototypes envisioned to be the next step in the Tiger Cub's evolution that never made it to production... [It] even offered insight into some of the offbeat things that happened during the bike's history. The book included detailed model profiles spanning 1954 to 1989, which provide specifications in detail from engine particulars and paint colours available to model changes, production details and sales data. For Triumph devotees - particularly those focused on the Terrier and Tiger Cub models, Mike Estall's bible is a must-have, but ht appeal extends to collectors, restorers and motorcycle enthusiasts across the continuum. - Ultimate MotorCycling. If ever a book reached Legend status this is it, and the good news is that due to popular demand, it's now back in print and available once more. The definitive history of the still much sought after Tiger Sub (and Terrier) is without a doubt the ultimate reference book for all variants of the model. Every aspect of specification from valve clearance to paint colour is contained within the pages. Every single model is covered from inception to completion. There are chapters on the Cub in competition, happenings in America, military, police and utility models, even a chapter on the Bermuda Cub. It is all here so get one now for your book collection, you will not regret it.- Nacelle. This book has been out of print for some years but is now back in production and is a must-have for anyone keen on these spirited little singles. It is also a very handy restorers guide, with a thorough breakdown of detail changes, a colour guide and production allocations to markets around the world.- Old Bike Australasia. From 1954 to the end of the 1960s the "Tiger Cub" was the entry model in Triumph's offer, and almost as long as the author concerned with the type. This "bible" published in the year 2000 is highly regarded in collector circles, and the original edition is traded by several hundred pounds. Now the 200 page strong - 120 pages of history, 80 pages (!) and richly illustrated book - which you can see in your layout and picture quality - can be found again at a relatively cheap price. - Austro Classic. Often the press releases list a new book as the 'definitive guide' and while it may be debatable in some instances, 'ultimate reference source' in the case of the Triumph Tiger Cub Motorcycle Bible it is a true statement. Turning to the rear pages you find over 80 pages of Appendices which include useful images of each of the many variants, and I cannot think of another work on my bookshelf that has such a comprehensive breakdown of model specifications. It was a labour of love by author Mike Estall when he wrote the book originally, and in some cases with first editions selling over GBP500, it gives you some idea how the book is viewed by those with an interest in the humble 'Cub". So the really good news for those people who may have missed it the first time round, it is now back in print after a long absence as a a 'Classic Reprint' from Veloce Publishing at a very reasonable price. As before, this quality hardback covers the full history of the popular Triumph Tiger Cub motorcycle. Every aspect of these machine is detailed, including 22 in-depth model profiles, delivery details, technical design specifications, military, police and competition bikes, plus the full story behind the model's production run. Included is the international history of the bike including delivery details of 113,000 individual machines to 153 countries, colour schemes and much more. Despite being an in-depth look at the bike, the story of its development etc., it is actually very readable and can be wiped in and out of to glean information on the ideas of this running and leading the British motorcycle industry at the time. But, it really is a must have for all Triumph Tiger Cub owners and enthusiasts as the ultimate work on the model. - Ian Kerr. A labour of love and the result of many years of research, here is the complete reference source to the Triumph Tiger Cub in all its forms. Every aspect of the Cub's design, production and development is covered, together with it success in motorcycle sport and record breaking, and its use by the utilities, police forces and the military. Now reprinted, due to public demand, in the Veloce Classic Reprint Series, this excellent, high-quality book is highly recommended. - Jonathan Hill Freelance.
