This is my first read by author Mark Brandi and I am so pleased to be introduced to this book because it was gripping from the very start, I could not put this down.

The story follows Ben and Fab, two best friends who spend a lot of time together playing cricket and yabbying. Despite the close friendship both Ben and Fab leave a lot of personal things unsaid and pretend as though nothing has happened.

“Ben saw the ambulance up the street when he was coming home from footy training, but he didn’t think that much of it. When he got inside, his mum and dad were quiet, looking at the telly. The Wonder Years was on, but the sound was turned off. Then the phone rang and his mum ran to it, almost like she knew it was coming.”

I highly recommend this and look forward to reading more books by Mark Brandi. I know we’re only halfway through the year but this is definitely going into my Top 10 favourite reads for 2019.
If you’re looking for something to read that’s gripping and emotionally realistic....pick this up!
