HOW TO APPLY FOR, COLLECT AND ENFORCE
THE CURRENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHILD SUPPORT WITH USEFUL EXAMPLES AND TIPS
An appreciation by Elizabeth Robson Taylor of Richmond Green Chambers and Phillip Taylor MBE, Head of Chambers
and Reviews Editor, “The Barrister”
All applicants for child support should know about this book if they don’t already.
And it’s thanks to the editor, Mark Brough, and the Child Poverty Action Group for their annual commitment to present how child support works in a lucid and readable fashion whilst including a high level of detail required when dealing the state over benefits.
The new edition gives clear, practical guidance for parents and their advisers on how the child support scheme is applied for the financial year 2018/19. It covers the basics: how to apply for child support; the powers that the Child Maintenance Service and Child Support Agency have; how maintenance is calculated; how to challenge decisions and make complaints; and what happens if you do not pay child support, including powers to deduct money from bank accounts.
The handbook is fully indexed and cross-referenced to legislation and case law authorities. CPAG always do their homework and this publication is no different. You should find a copy in local public libraries and at Citizens Advice. It is to be hoped that the day will come when the practical tips and examples given here get to a much wider audience because the detailed information is so useful.
CPAG works on behalf of the more than one in four children in the United Kingdom growing up in poverty today. This latest edition also includes practical examples of maintenance calculations and tactical hints and tips for dealing with the Child Maintenance Service and will be a friend to many at a stressful time.
The law is correct as at 1st June 2018 and the book was published on 10th July 2018. Always ensure that you refer to the most recent edition for advice.
