What Reviewers Are Saying
May 2015
There are six of these very pleasing little Simply Color books from Lucky Spool; they're designed to be collectible and look eye-catching when placed together on the shelf. Described as 'a crayon box for quilters', this series succeeds in tempting the eye and getting those creative juices flowing. This volume focuses on red, and covers a huge amount of ground with extreme economy. Covering colour theory in short order, with lovely photography and simple layout, the book then moves on to some very interesting and arresting projects that illustrate how useful and dynamic red can be when used in a good context. The stand-out projects here is Nordic Folklore, a quilt featuring a very bold red and white geometric design. Also fascinating is the Red Cross quilt, using squares of subtle red variations to provide lots of visual interest. Light on words but rich in content, Vanessa Christenson's lovely book inspires and explains in a delightful manner. You'll definitely feel like collecting the set. * Popular Patchwork *
