Synopsis
A look at the Italian Regia Aeronautica in the Spanish Civil War. In July 1936, rebellious Spanish generals asked for help from Benito Mussolini. He sent twelve SM.81 bombers which were the first of the 764 Italian aircraft sent to help the nationalists. The book follows the day to day struggles in the air and the rapid development of the Italian Air Force in Spain. In this first volume we follow the struggle up to July 1937, including battles such as the attacks on Madrid, Malaga and Guadalajara. Illustrated with photos and colour profiles

The first volume in their story, it deals with the involvement of the Italian air force units as they became involved in the Spanish Civil War ... The story also gives a good indication of the international involvement in the Spanish Civil war, with pilots from Italy, Spain, Russia, Germany, as well as America and the UK all taking part.

To close with, there are 5 pages of good quality colour aircraft profiles, all featuring the Italian Fiat CR32 biplane fighter. * Military Model Scene 17/02/2015 * This is an excellent book covering a less well known part of the Spanish Civil War. Recommended to those with an interest in The Italian Air Force, The Spanish Civil War, or those history buffs who would like to know more about this subject. * Britmodeller.com 24/01/2015 *
