This important catalogue is intended as a reference work that synthesizes the creative relationship that united Joan Mitchell (1925-1992), an American painter most often associated with the 1950s NewYork School's second generation of abstract expressionists and Jean-Paul Riopelle (1923-2002), thereby relating the 25-or-so years of shared life (1955-1979) of this extraordinary couple over 25 years of production.Written by period and Mitchell and Riopelle specialists, the catalogue will be a tool for readers to hone their appreciation of these two major bodies of work from the second half of the 20th century.
