This is a religious thriller based in the near future. Pope Pius X111 is dying; the Church is now in terminal decline. Cardinal Manzu, Secretary of State in the Vatican, is involved, with people outside the church, in a massive financial scam. He has to get a new Pope who - unwittingly - will sign a new power of attorney, thus enabling him to remain in control of the transfer of billions of Dollars. The order of James, former Ebonites - a wealthy secret society - which traces its origins back to Jerusalem, two thousand years ago, has infiltrated the church at all levels; its goal is to get control of the Church; to destroy it. Terminally ill, Cardinal Crosoli, in Florence, sees this Conclave as the Church's last chance to elect a Pope who may save the church. A new pope is elected. But whose pope is he and will he live long enough to do what must be done? It's a tense thriller with a dramatic and unexpected climax. The author received a literary award for this book, at the US Independent Publisher Book awards 2007.
