This book, the first of its kind about Iceland, includes 382 full-colour photographs of the majority of flowering plants and ferns found in Iceland, shown in their natural setting. A full discussion of the characteristics, habitat and distribution of the 365 most common plant species accompany the photographs. Other rare species are described as well, but in less detail. Apart from the photographs, each description is accompanied by a map illustrating distribution as well as black and white drawings which call attention to details that might otherwise escape the eye. The book is organized by flower colour and other distinguishing characteristics, making it easy for the layman to use. Also included are indices to the English, Icelandic and Latin names of the plants. This is a book for anyone interested in nature, specialist and non-specialist alike. It is very easy to use.
