When young writing talent is ignored or, at worst, deliberately suppressed, you know something's up. Despite some positive initiatives within the British poetry scene, there remains a general unwillingness amongst some in the 'industry' to engage seriously with young writers. "Generation Txt" is an attempt to redress the balance, to give some of our most talented and promising young writers a platform for their work. From over one hundred and fifty submissions from all over the UK we've found six poets in their early or mid-twenties, six of the best. This is the generation that reached adulthood either side of the Millennium, the generation of Blogs, iPods and ASBOs; the generation of 9/11 and 7/7. You will find poems here that inspire, entertain and make you think. Poems that follow Ezra Pound's command to 'Make it new'.

Generation Txt looks at all points of poetry's star and is less concerned with the middle ground, which makes this selection of young writers more vital and a truer cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish. - Roddy Lumsden This collection is a creative ideas manual - replete with offbeat and tangential work. These six young poets are joyfully working with Ezra Pound's dictum to 'make it new' and doing it with extreme effervescence. - Times Educational Supplement Good news for poetry. Richard Morrison, The Times Full of ambition and spark ... let us hope Generation Txt is remembered as the starting point of some dazzling poetic careers. - Clare Pollard, Rising
