"Mutt 'n Bone" has been published as a tribute to Jim Moss and all profits are being donated by his widow, Gladys, to The Salvation Army's Ethembeni Children's Home, Southern Africa, for the caring ministry of its HIV/Aids clinic. A gesture of which the central character 'Mutt' would heartily approve. The book contains 185 cartoons by Jim freelance artist of great originality, who produced countless posters, book jackets, logos, illustrations and cartoons for The Salvation Army, for educational publishers and other charities and commercial enterprises. They are selected from 657 which ran weekly in 'Salvationist' for almost 14 years. These weekly strips in The Salvation Army's newspaper, "Salvationist", perceptively highlighted the lives, thoughts and feelings of two dynamically different Salvation Army bandsmen as they aimed to serve the Lord together. Although the cartoon characters are very decidedly 'Salvation Army', the humour can be appreciated, and the drawings enjoyed by all.
