Part of a three-book programme designed to help beginners on an ESL programme to develop functional language abilities. The components of the programme - grammar, reading and writing, and listening and speaking - share a common thematic and grammatical organization. This volume focuses on listening strategies, such as making predictions, taking notes, drawing inferences, and listening for phonological clues. Speaking activities include role-play, small-group activities, and classroom discussions. A cassette is available.
