Synopsis
The Art of Fine Gifts: Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a major influence on the architecture and design of the twentieth century. A gifted artist, designer, craftsman and architect, he is one of the key figures of the Arts & Crafts Design Movement in Britain and the flourish of Art Nouveau in Scotland. As part of a group of artists known as 'The Four' he helped develop the 'Glasgow' style. Informative text accompanies each work and the datepad features previous and next month's views.

5.0 out of 5 stars | A delightful collection | By Bluecashmere | I have bought this calendar for my 16 year old grand-daughter who devours books and is amazingly well read for her years. All the photos and paintings are from The National Portrait Gallery and feature a wide variety of writers, men and women in equal numbers, in drama, prose and verse. It offers an eclectic mix from Shakespeare to Agatha Christie, from Dickens to J. K. Rowling (in a pre-Potter spartan setting), from Virigina Woolf, to A. A. Milne and others. Some of the pictures are immediately recognisable; others are likely to be unfamiliar to many of us. It's a quality production which will give much pleasure to those with literary enthusiasms. Recommended. * Amazon * 4.0 out of 5 stars | Read the Books | By Watson | 12 interesting photographs of literary figures - 6 men/6 women - a modern balance. * Amazon *
