This is a children's adventure populated by unusual and engaging characters. Characters include a tortoise that thinks she's a dog, two upper class thieves named Lord Clive and Lord Dudley and a grandad who's addicted to jam sandwiches. The story of Jimmy, his Nana and her amazing home-built robot is a humorous affirmation that young and old together have the ability to shape the world around them and triumph against well meaning but blinkered bureaucracy. The book has been carefully crafted using readings to infant school children to match vocabulary to understanding levels and to maximise enjoyment. It presents reading as an adventure and includes an 'about the reader' page, on which the reader is encouraged to add details about themselves. There is a supporting web site, which offers the chance for children to enter a competition to have their illustration included in the next "Nana" publication.
