As part of the commitment to improving nutrition in developing countries, the FAO Food and Nutrition Division organised the Expert Consultation on Nutrition Education for the Public in Rome, from 18 to 22 September 1995. During this meeting 14 international experts discussed six papers which are presented in full text in this document. These technical papers were commissioned by FAO and were prepared by some of the experts while others made comments to them prior to the discussions. The papers cover past experiences and needs for nutrition education; a framework for nutrition education programmes; nutrition education and communication strategies for different groups and settings; training needs for nutrition education; evaluation of nutrition education programmes; and new developments in computer-mediated technology for nutrition education. This document complements the FAO Food and Nutrition Paper No. 59 published in 1995, which presents the report adopted during the Expert Consultation on Nutrition Education for the Public.
