An entertaining reversal of the story of Goldilocks. The Blairs are people; "Somebody" is a bear. Creative modernizations include changes ("This food is too dry," says Somebody, checking out the cereal box, but it's "too noisy" with mill in it; baby food in ajar is best) and additions (thirsty, he finds that "This rain [the shower] is too hot" and "This pond [the toilet] is too small"). Baby Blair often gets the comical last word: "It's a burglar. . .it's a monster," opine his parents; "Issa big teddy bear," he points out, sensibly enough: Somebody is sound asleep, cuddling Baby Blair's teddy. Abel's good-humored, cartoonlike illustrations sit comfortably in the ample white space of this generously sized book and are the perfect accompaniment to Tolhurst's charming update. (Kirkus Reviews)
