The use of microcomputers and spreadsheet analysis in business has grown significantly. This text seeks to fulfill two objectives. First, it demonstrates how spreadsheets can be used in operations management. Second, it provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with personal computers. The book comes with spreadsheet templates capable of handling a variety of problems encountered in the operations management field. These templates are menu driven so the user does not need an indepth knowledge of personal computers or spreadsheets to use them. The templates are powerful and flexible and can be applied to a wide variety of situations. Many of the chapters include problems that ask the user to modify the templates, and two chapters explain how to create spreadsheets to handle situations that are so unstructured that general-purpose templates could not be developed. Thus, this book caters to sophisticated computer users as well as novice users.
