Another in the easy-to-take adventures of blond, beautiful, brilliant forensic pathologist and TV personality Dr. Tina May (No Escape, 1984), this time involved in a series of questionable suicides. The suicides are marked by the disappearance of large sums of money drawn by the victims before death and by other factors, but Chief Inspector Derek Arkwright and his ambitious Sergeant Turner get nowhere until Tina makes an inspired connection to euthanasia - and to eccentric falconer Jamie Farrell, a recent acquaintance of hers. Complex but unconfused plot lines lead to a tense, nearly fatal confrontation for our heroine. Along the way, there's interesting material about forensic medicine and falconry, never onerously detailed; lots of unboring minor characters; and the author's lively, unpretentious style to keep it all moving at a good clip. Solidly satisfying entertainment. (Kirkus Reviews)
