Printed handouts that can be freely copied have had an important part to play in therapeutic intervention. In this material, the author has assembled a collection of handouts to cover the most essential areas of mental health: anxiety, depression, changing habits, and behaviour and assertion. Professionals from all disciplines should find this publication helpful because it provides instruction sheets that are organized for quick access in one location. All of these sheets are designed to be freely photocopied and handed to clients so as to supplement treatment programmes through home practice. These sheets include graded practice sheets, checklists, behavioural symptoms questionaires, rating scales, home assignments, analysis sheets, goal plans and self-monitoring exercises. Designed for ease of use, these handouts have all been tried and tested by the author in his work as a clinical psychologist.
The following gives an indication of the contents: anxiety - arose reaction, positive self-talk, panic attacks; stress - problem solving, time management, goal planning; depression - loneliness, emotional disturbance, irrational beliefs; changing habits and behaviour - breaking a habit, smoking, weight control, sexual difficulties; and assertion - passive behaviour, aggression, negotiating skills.
