BOOKS etc ONLINE IS CAPITAL

The online business of BOOKS etc, the bankrupt books, CD and DVD firm, has found a new home.  It has been acquired through an investment company and operationally it will be split between Capital Ideas Retail Online (“CIRO”) and Capital Data, divisions of The Capital Organisation - the online retail database owner, mail order provider, financial publisher and alternative investment group.

The BOOKS etc business consists of a database of over 1 million people, the BOOKS etc brand name and website.  Capital Data is a fast growing database business which now has over 3.5 million names including the BOOKS etc acquisition and recently acquired Trinity Street data which dealt with ticket sales and merchandising of leading pop groups including the Arctic Monkeys. It also owns Inside Track the buy-to-let property business.

CIRO is the online branch of Capital Ideas Retail and owns student oriented websites including the retail website sellstudentstuff.com and the city guide Itchycity.co.uk as well as the online CD/DVD retailing website goodmusic.co.uk.  The acquisition adds the Books etc brand to its stable.

The Capital Organisation Group spokesperson, Anthony Peters, said: “This acquisition will enable us to develop both our online retail and our database businesses much faster.  We are confident that the integration will provide synergies for both operations and will mean profitable growth for the group as a whole”.
