Synopsis
The aim of this book is to examine how EU law relates to and impacts on the national social security systems of the Member States. It asks three key questions. Firstly, it looks at how the internal market and its developments have eroded Member States' sovereignty over their social security systems, despite the fact that the EU has limited competence in the field. It then explores, secondly, how the Union Citizenship and, thirdly, the Charter of Fundamental Rights has affected the coordination of these regimes.

Newspapers & Magazines
Due to the originality of the book's approach, the questions envisaged and the proposals made, its reading should be encouraged for all those interested in European social security law. (Translated from the original French) -- Jean-Philippe Lhernould * Revue critique de droit international prive * The book presents an interesting analysis of the issues already well-covered by the literature... unlike a lot of other literature on this subject, it takes into account the effects of EU rules on underlining principles of national social security systems. It can be concluded that the book should be useful both for students of advanced courses in European integration and legal scholars. -- Tomislav Sokol, Zagreb School of Economics and Management * European Journal of Social Security *
