The Liar in the Library
Fethering Village Mysteries
Synopsis
'A new Simon Brett is an event for mystery fans' P. D. JAMES
'King of the witty village mystery' Daily Telegraph
'Perfect entertainment' Guardian
Fethering has everything a sleepy coastal town should: a snug English pub, cosy cottages, a little local library - and the occasional murder . . .
Bestselling author Burton St Clair, complete with soaring ego and wandering hands, has come to town to give a talk. But after his corpse is found slumped in his car, he won't be leaving. Jude is the prime suspect; she was, after all, the last person to see Burton St Clair alive. If she is to prove her innocence, she will have to dust off her detective skills and recruit her prim and proper neighbour (and partner-in-sleuthing) Carole to find the real culprit.

Not my kind of book
Poor - 4 out of 10
This book is set in a little town. There is a murder in the town and two locals are amateur sleuths and set about trying to solve the murder. One of the local sleuths is also the prime suspect in the murder. I guess it is a classic whodunnit. A number of suspects in the library that the sleuths all end up talking to while the police appear to being nothing except focusing on the main character. It was a thin and easy book to read and lose yourself in for a couple of hours, however not really my cup of tea. It felt too obvious who the murderer was and you were just waiting for everyone to catch up with you. If you want an easy read, or enjoy gently crime books, that doesn't require much thinking this is for you. If you prefer something meatier you are better off going for a different crime book.
