Ducati's classic 750, 860 900 and Mille bevel-drive twins from 1971-1986 are now amongst the most collectable bikes in the world. Although built in relatively small numbers, there are many individual model differences that can make their authentic restoration difficult. This book serves as a definitive guide to authenticity and gives hands-on restoration tips and guidance. This range of motorcycles lasted 15 years and now a restored bike with original parts will be worth about double the value of one with the wrong parts/detailing. There have been so many little variations over the years that most people have no idea what is correct for a particular model. A would-be buyer's first question is always "how authentic is the bike?", not if it is beautifully restored or not. So this book is a comprehensive guide to authenticity. The content includes colour codes, stripe widths, decal placement, etc. The practical chapters are by necessity broad. For instance, there were five fork types, more than five shock absorber types (many not rebuildable), more than five brake types and ten different frame types. These practical chapters cover little tricks in assembly and offer general advice rather than a detailed workshop manual-type description.

As usual the text is well-written and authoritative without being anoraky and the book is well laid-out and of good quality. I have no doubt that this book will be in every auction house and classic Ducati dealership the world over and no doubt in a few police stolen vehicle units. If you are even remotely considering buying one or already own one it just has to be on your bookshelf. GBP50.00 may seem a lot for a book, but given the information that could save you thousands by not buying a mongrel, it is money very well spent and worth every penny! Starting with a historical background, followed by model by model detail and complimented by over 1,000 high quality photographs and illustrations, Ian Falloon is to be complimented on this superb reference tome. Jonathan Hill - freelance [Ian Falloon's] expertise is unparalleled ... This ... is not a book for leaving out to impress visitors, but a book for grubby fingerprints, oil stains and paint overspray: a serious work of reference, by a serious writer. Benzina tells you everything you'd ever wish to know about identifying, authenticating and restoring Ducati bevel twins ... The amount of detail is just incredible ... this book is indispensable. italian motor
